The Winter Garden is owned and managed by the University of Greenwich which employs the gardening staff to maintain the beds and open it on a daily basis.

The Park’s Friends Group adds an extra layer of support to staff when its volunteers get involved in various projects throughout the year, including planting of thousands of trees, creation of hedgerows and digging new ponds.

The parks department has been reducing the mowing of its parks and verges in recent years in response to the demands of the environment and to reduce costs.
